Celeste Headlee at the library

Celeste Headlee is scheduled to visit the Athens-Clarke County library on October 6 at 7:00 p.m. to talk about her new book, We Need to Talk: How to Have Conversations That Matter. This book addresses an erosion of conversation skills in our society that leave us more divided and less connected, setting forth suggestions such as "be there or go elsewhere," "check your bias," and "hide your phone." It explains scientific research about how our brains work and how we communicate, and  it follows up with strategies for better communication with an emphasis on empathy. Headlee is the host of "On Second Thought" from Georgia Public Broadcasting and has been a journalist for public radio since 1999.
