Journeys through African womanhood: painting a counter-narrative Lecture

The 19th Annual Darl Snyder Lecture sponsored by the African Studies Institute is next Weds. March 2, at 10 am in Masters' Hall, the georgia Center.

The guest speaker is Nwando Achebe, history professor at Michigan State University. She has just published her latest book, The Female King of Colonial Nigeria: Ahebi Ugbabe; there will be a book signing following the lecture. Her research has centered on the Women kings of Nigeria but she is also known for her work for women's advocacy and women's rights in Africa. The topic of her talk is "Journeys through African womanhood: painting a counter-narrative".

Nwando is the daughter of Chinua Achebe renowned author of such works as "Things Fall Apart" and "Arrow of God".
