Volunteer opportunity -- Memorial Park

Memorial Park Ecological Restoration - a special Furlough Day event
There will be a "workday" held from 9:00 - 12:00 a.m. on Friday, October 30th. Join volunteers for a fun and rewarding morning of eradicating invasive plant species (primarily ivy and privet) in a section of Memorial Park.
Meet at the Memorial Park administration building off Gran Ellen Drive (near Five Points) at 9:00, or if after 9:00 a.m., follow signs down the hill along Gran Ellen Drive where the group will be working. Wear long pants, long sleeves, and close-toed shoes. The group will work even in light rain. Bring water. A variety of tools will be provided, but you may wish to bring your favorites. The work is appropriate for all ages, and children are welcome if supervised.
This workday is part of an ongoing effort to clear the park of invasive plants and to return it to a more "native" woodland environment that will attract more birds and wildlife. Workdays in the park are normally held starting at 9:00 a.m. on first and third Saturdays of each month. If you are interested in learning more about the project, or would like to be on an email list to receive workday reminders, please contact Sue Wilde at suewilde@hotmail.com
