Athens, Georgia -- the home of Bulldogs, bands, and beer.
I wonder when we can begin simply referring to Americans as simply Americans without adjectives? Suppose some one said "ACC White American Film Festival begins February 1"? Wouldn't politically correct people claim this was a racist statement? Why is the other statement any less racist? Isn't it time to bury political correctness in the garbage can where it belongs? Let's change the name to "American History Month".By the way the big story this week was the 20 year sexual harassment of female students by a UGA professor, so far not mentioned in the daily newspaper of Athens or this website. Extensive coverage was published in the Red and Black at UGA. Here is a link:http://www.topix.net/forum/atlanta/TOTRAQMM47DD0VPE2#lastPost
Winfield,I don't cover politics in my posts. I only cover events, especially of arts related. I also like to post events which are free to attend. ;-)As for the "whys" and "hows" of Black History Month, Wikipedia has a nice overview.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_History_Month">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_History_Month
